STRIPPED

The inspiration for Stripped came from the fact that I’m honestly not a very tidy person — my chair is always piled with clothes until it can no longer be sat on. When I started this project, I truly had no idea what I was doing. I filled dozens of pages with sketches, trying to figure out how to turn this “peeled wood” shape into something actually buildable. After making seven or eight small paper models and discussing them for months with Professor Gonzo, I finally went to Artwood to print the 1:1 prototype. That’s when I discovered the structure was unbalanced — because, at first, the two curved parts of the chair were completely symmetrical, unlike the final version, where they’re invertedly symmetrical relative to the central wooden board. After readjusting the form, I arrived at the final version you see now.
